Turks and Caicos music & culture

A visitor’s guide to the sound of the islands — and a place for locals to discover what’s next.

What is TCI music?

TCI means Turks and Caicos Islands. Music from the Turks and Caicos includes traditional ripsaw alongside contemporary artists working in a range of genres. “Island music” is a broad description, not one genre: explore the people behind the songs to hear the differences.

Ripsaw, also known as rake ’n’ scrape, is part of the islands’ musical heritage. Its distinctive rhythm comes from scraping a cross-cut saw. Local live music also includes reggae, jazz, blues and other sounds.

Listen before your vacation

Get to know island voices before you arrive. Browse the entertainer directory, open a release to see its artwork and listening links, and explore the magazine for stories from the network.

Finding live music in Turks and Caicos

Restaurants and bars host local live music, and performances can be found across the islands. Start with the network’s event listings, then confirm the date, location and ticket information with the organizer before making plans. Listings change; an empty calendar does not mean there is no music happening.

Vacation tips: plan the trip, then the soundtrack

Providenciales is the main tourism island; Grand Turk is home to the capital and cruise port. Check which island an event is on before adding it to your itinerary — a listing in Grand Turk is not a venue in Providenciales.
